Are you questioning authority because someone told you to? The worst damage we see around us is the end result of people’s casual acceptance of contingent facts as eternal truths decreed by the universe. How are they supposed to know any better? Again, so much comes down to the pervasiveness of the mass media, and their flattening of the landscape of human variation into a desert of sameness and self-satisfied conformity. Under these conditions, who has the elbow room to splash out on a whole new outlook? We can talk all we want about how it’s out duty to challenge ourselves and the social systems that make the world what it is — but who’s listening? We need to get it on TV.
