Children are our future. You have to ask yourself what people think public leadership is all about. They act as though being put in charge automatically confers some strange new powers of the brain that will allow them to think clearly and get things done. “We have to do something to stop our kids from leaving town.” As though recognizing the problem is halfway to solving it. As though the solution isn’t massively complex. As though we should be impressed that someone is talking about this. As though talking about it is worth anything.
